ESSA-- the EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT . . .
- NOW states have the freedom to choose their own standards for their students.
- NOW states have an opportunity to use alternative assessments (instead of standardized tests, project-based learning can be the measure of success).
- NOW states can select an indicator by which their school can be evaluated.
- NOW states may choose how to define "a good teacher."
- NOW states may apply for grants that will enable schools to offer all kinds of services to students and their communities (known as "wrap around services").
