THIS EVENING: ESSA COMMUNITY TOWN HALL MEETING, Waiakea High School cafeteria, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. 

Share your ideas with GOVERNOR IGE's education team and impact his blueprint for public education in Hawaii.

  • NOW states have the freedom to choose their own standards for their students.
  • NOW states have an opportunity to use alternative assessments (instead of standardized tests, project-based learning can be the measure of success).
  • NOW states can select an indicator by which their school can be evaluated.
  • NOW states may choose how to define "a good teacher."
  • NOW states may apply for grants that will enable schools to offer all kinds of services to students and their communities (known as "wrap around services").
