Hi all,

I hope that you are enjoying your well-deserved summer break.  Although school is not in session, HSTA continues to participate in local/state activities.  I look forward to having you join us at some of these events.

1.      Sign-Waving:  Every Tuesday from 4:30-5:30pm on Kamehameha Ave. by the King Kamehameha statue.  We are sign-waving for our recommended candidates.  Wear your red HSTA shirt and join us!

2.      NOW:  send out HSTA’s recommended candidates list to all your friends and family, encourage everyone to vote.

3.      Puna and Ka’u Lava/Ash donations:  Being collected at the HSTA Hilo office.  Drop off your donations of canned goods, toiletries, and other non perishable items.  These will be distributed to the American Red Cross shelters and the Pu’u honua donation site.

4.      July 2, 2018, Mazie’s fund-raiser:  Hilo Yacht Club from 5-7pm.  Tickets are $150.00, contact Rae for tickets.  Come and meet Mazie and talk with her about your concerns for public education, the lava and ash situation in Puna and Ka’u, or just come and talk story!

5.      July 6, 2018, David Ige’s fund-raiser:  Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale from 5-8:30pm, $10.00 for chili and rice dinner.  Help needed with serving of food.  Wear your red HSTA shirt.  Contact Rae if you need tickets.

6.      July 17, 2018, Absentee ballots being mailed out:  Consider voting for HSTA’s recommended candidates.

1.     July 21, 2018, Relay for Life:  Wong stadium, 4-midnight.  Go to BILA (Big Island Labor Alliance) tent site #10 and help sell hot dogs and water for 50cents each, walk around the track, bring a potluck dish to share, donate to the BILA team account on the Relay for Life website:  http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLCY18WER?team_id=2324169&pg=team&fr_id=88499 ; or http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLCY17National?pg=teamlist&fr_id=88499.  Donation sheets are also attached to this email, donations may be turned into the HSTA Hilo office or brought down to the BILA tent on the 21^st of July.  Use the Team Donation Sheet, team is BILA.

7.      July 31, 2018:  Teachers’ first day back at school.

8.      August 10, 2018, Democratic Grand Rally:  Mooheau bandstand from 5-8pm, sign wave with us prior to the Grand Rally, wear your HSTA shirts and then join us at the event.

9.      August 11, 2018, Primary Elections:  VOTE!  VOTE!  VOTE!
