HSTA Negotiations Team shares EUTF, 21-hour proposals in mid-term reopener

HSTA's Negotiations Team met with the state on Monday, March 4, for the second bargaining session of the mid-term reopener of our contract.
The two teams met for nearly four hours. Most of the discussion focused on the future of job-embedded professional development (21 hours).
The parties also discussed future increases to the EUTF premiums paid by the employer.
As we first did in 2017, HSTA continues our efforts to make the negotiations process as informative and transparent to our members as possible by providing members a full copy of HSTA's reopener proposals.

The Waialae Wolves, made up of 16 students from third through fifth grades, made it to the finals of the VEX IQ Challenge state championship, placed 13th overall, and walked away with the Energy Award, which recognizes their inspirational spirit.
It’s an incredible achievement for a team that’s been in existence for less than a year.
“I think it taught the children you really can do anything you put your mind to,” said third-grade teacher and team leader Raechelle Villanueva.
