The end of the school year is quickly approaching.  These are the closing activities that we need your kokua;

1.      SLL Election forms are due on May 3, 2019.  Please have your elections and turn in all documents to HSTA (attached is another copy of the SLL Elections form). 
2.      SLL Trainings for the new SLLs will be in August 2019 on Saturdays.  The training flyer and sign ups will be out as soon as we get confirmation of the sites.  Please have your newly elected SLLs send us their personal email contacts if different than what we are currently using.
3.      HSTA Convention:  April 13, 2019 at Hawaii Convention Center for elected delegates.
4.      Special Olympics:  April 13, 2019 at Keaau High track and field.  Volunteers needed to help with set up from 6am to 8am.  Wear your red HSTA shirt and report to Cindy Hara from HGEA (NOTE:  I along with many of our chapter leaders and the usual volunteers for these events will be at the HSTA annual convention on the 13th)  Please take pictures and send to me at 365-6979 or toryamanaka@hsta.org
5.      Parks & Recreation Easter Egg Hunt:  April 19, 2019 at Wong stadium.  Volunteers needed to help with games and gates from 7:15am to noon.    Wear your red HSTA shirt and report to Edwin Kagawa  
6.      Excellence in Teaching:  May 5, 2019 at Nani Mau Gardens from 11-3pm.  Tickets being sold at HSTA office and through your SLLs.  Come and support your Teacher of Excellence and retirees.
7.      NALC Food Drive:  May 11, 2019 at the airport post office loading dock from noon to 6pm.  Wear covered shoes and your red HSTA shirt.  Any amount of time that you can spare will be appreciated.  All donations go to the Hawaii Island Food Basket.  If you are unable to volunteer, please consider putting canned goods out by your mailbox for pick up on that day.
8.      Relay for Life:  July 20, 2019 at Wong stadium from 4pm to midnight.  HSTA will have a tent.  More details to follow.  Potluck dishes welcomed.

NOTE:  HSTA Advocacy Center will now include the Neighbor Island chapters.  Beginning on May 1, 2019, NI chapter UDs will be primarily responsible for organizing duties.  Advocacy duties will be under the HSTA Advocacy Center and Kauai UD Tom Perry will be assuming all advocacy cases involving investigations, grievances and arbitrations for Kauai, Big Island and Molokai.  David Forrest will be handling half of Oahu chapters, Maui and Lanai.  Jodi Paris will be doing the other half of Oahu chapters.  More details to follow.
